After their mum had several late term loses which, after investigation, were found to be due to FNAIT, Kiera Whitely and her sister from British Columbia, Canada, found they too had the rare platelet type HPA-1b1b. It’s so important for sisters to get their platelets typed (called platelet genotyping) if there is a maternal history of FNAIT or repeated pregnancy loss. Read Kiera’s story here
