Overall, we had a normal, healthy pregnancy and I was induced at almost 39 weeks because of high blood pressure. After 25 hours, we happily and tiredly welcomed our son, Cian. We were discharged from the hospital 36 hours after delivery after healthy checks for me and for Cian.

We had a home healthcare nurse come two days later for a routine follow-up and discovered that Cian’s jaundice level was too high and he needed to be readmitted for light therapy. After about 12 hours of light therapy, his jaundice level was in the healthy range, but his labs showed a platelet level of around 30,000.
